How does your garden grow? With #JerseyFreshLove, of course!

Now that my garden plot at Roseville Community Garden is fully planted for the season and growing, I thought I’d do a quick visual essay from the start of gardening season to date, then continue posting a photo from the same perspective each week throughout the season.

Here goes… starting from April 12 through June […]

“All good things gotta come to an end…”

“…The thrills have to fade before they come ’round again The bills will be paid and the pleasure will mend All good things got to come to an end.” — Jackson Browne

August becomes September. The sun slides lower in the sky, and the cool evening breezes of autumn replace the oppressive heat of […]

The Little Sunflower That Could

Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday, Mom!

This is what became of a sunflower sprout that my Mom thought was a weed and tried to kill this spring. Fortunately, I noticed it missing from the garden, rescued it from a destiny in the compost pile, and got it back into the ground. What a difference 12 […]

Summer is the Season for Sunflowers!

On Sunday, May 12, the National Weather Service had issued a frost advisory for the area on Monday morning. […]

Finally! Springtime, and the garden is planted!

May 4th was the ‘official’ Opening Day at the Roseville Community Garden, and I’ve got my plot 95% complete!

I was anxious to get a jump on the season, so on April 6th – the first Saturday the garden was open for ‘pre-season’ activity – I arrived bright & early, hauled in a half dozen […]

Storm Survivors: Garden Zinnia

Another quick “Storm Survivor” pictorial post. This one is of my garden zinnias, which held up quite well to the wind and hail storm of July 18, with only a battered leaf here and there.

According to Wikipedia, zinnia are popular flowering plants with varied habits, allowing for uses in several parts of a garden, […]
